Denialfiend

A horror/comic-influenced gore/death metal supergroup featuring members of Death, Nasty Savage, Six Feet Under, Massacre and, uh, Down by Law (what?) actually sounds like a good, fun idea right now. And it is, with the 11 tunes on They Rise being nothing if not a respectable tip of the hat to the underground, with equal parts Celtic Frost, old school death metal and hardcore. You know: songs about the Necronomicon, funny soccer chants thrown in here and there, and an occasional near-death grunt for good measure. At 43 minutes, it starts to get a bit iffy, but take it in small doses and enjoy it for the toss-off lark it is, because it’s not too often side-projects have this much quality to them.
