Published Oct 10, 2013When Washington, DC indie darlings Deleted Scenes first came on the scene back in 2007, we were quick to file them "under 'most likely to succeed.'" Well, succeed they have, because after a self-titled EP, a pair of albums (2009's Birdseed Shirt and 2011's Young People's Church of the Air) and a string of tours across North America, the band have just signed with Toronto indie label Nevado Records, who will release the band's upcoming 7-inch record, "Stutter," on November 5.
According to a press release, the two-song set (which features the track "Songs of Leaving Behind" as its B-Side) was inspired by the fellow DC bands, "including groups like Buildings, Medications, and Hume — many of them former labelmates on the now defunct Sockets Records — who crafted a singular sonic identity, even though they only rarely ventured out of their hometown."
Recorded by production duo Brian McTear and Jonathan Low (Kurt Vile, Local Natives) at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia, "Stutter" is set to appear on the band's upcoming third album, which is due out sometime in 2014.
Te get Canadians reacquainted with the band, Nevado is offering a four-song compilation, which culls tracks from the band's previous albums, as a free download. The band will also be performing with Nevado labelmates Grounders on a select number of dates during their upcoming North American tour.
