Scroll through the iPod of a well-versed metal fan and you're likely to find Deftones (pictured) and the Dillinger Escape Plan near each other. Both have contributed a lot to the heavy music scene since their inceptions, so the two bands joining forces for a joint tour is good news indeed.
For the trek, a post on Deftones' official website announced that the outfits will hit two Canadian stops, Vancouver and Montreal, on their North American tour this April. Tickets for most shows will go on sale this Saturday (January 8), but if you're a member of the Deftones fan club you can score pre-sale stubs now through the site.
In case you're in need of a refresher, the several decades-old Deftones started off rocking some sort of rap-rock hybrid, but over the years have become iconic for blending atmospheric, My Bloody Valentine-style shoegazing sonics with bone-crunching metal licks. The ADD-driven Dillinger Escape Plan, on the other hand, have rarely given us enough time to pinpoint their sound besides describing it, lovingly of course, as a clusterfuck of death metal shredding, soft but busy jazz noodling and wildly varied time changes that chub up the calculus crowd.
