Deftones Cover the Smiths, the Cure, Sade on Record Store Day LP

The last time we heard from Deftones, the California metalheads pulled an Axl Rose by cancelling a show in Thailand at the last minute. And while this may have caused their fans to riot, their supporters will be comforted by the news that the group are releasing a covers album for this year's Record Store Day.

Functionally titled Covers, the LP will be limited to 5,000 copies. Many of the ten tracks have been previously released as B-sides, but this is the first time that all of them have been compiled on one record.

The album includes some surprising cover choices, including the Smiths, Japan, Duran Duran, the Cars and the Cure. Who knew that Deftones were such big new wave fans? There are also versions of songs by Sade, Drive Like Jehu, Lynyrd Skynyrd and more. See the tracklist below.

This year, Record Store Day will take place on April 16. Among the exclusive goodies that will be released to indie stores are a Flaming Lips box set, a Superchunk split seven-inch and many more.

2. "Caress" (Drive Like Jehu)
