Deerhunter's Moses Archuleta Releases Cassette as Moon Diagrams
Late last year, Geographic North launched a four-part cassette series called Sketch for Winter with an EP from A Sunny Day in Glasgow. Well, today (March 20) is the last day of winter, and now the label is wrapping up the series with a tape from Deerhunter drummer Moses Archuleta's project Moon Diagrams. Sketch for Winter IV: Care Package is available now.

Archuleta has been performing as Moon Diagrams for a few years now, and this EP is his first release. It consists of three songs, and it seems that these are very long. In an announcement from the label, closer "Elurra Urratu" is described as being "B-side-long." And at the bottom of this page, listen to a 10-minute edit of opening track "Scratch the Snow," which contains sprawling, ambient synth tones and a steadily tapping drum machine.

Care Package also includes "a heartfelt and heartbroken interpretation of 'Sweet Surrender,' a modern pop classic that unassumingly carries a formidable baggage all its own." Presumably, then, this is a cover of Sarah McLachlan's '90s hit of the same name.

That's what the tape looks like above. It's limited to 300 copies and can be purchased here for $5 US ($6.39 CDN).

Thanks to Pitchfork for the tip.
