Deerhunter's Bradford Cox Taps Panda Bear, Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier for New Atlas Sound LP

Apparently, Bradford Cox never takes a vacation. The front-man of some of the hippest bands in indie rock just finished the release and touring cycle for Deerhunter's Microcastle and Weird Era Cont., and now he's rolling out his second Atlas Sound record. Titled, Logos the record is coming out on October 20 through Kranky, and features collaborations with the likes of Animal Collective's Noah Lennox (aka Panda Bear) and Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier.

In a press release, Cox opened up about the record's themes, saying, "My last album was a bedroom laptop type thing. Very introverted. Logos is an album that was recorded all over the world. It's not about me. There are collaborations with other musicians. The lyrics are not autobiographical. The view is a lot more panoramic and less close-up. I became bored with introspection."

He also explained the album's loose recording process and tell us, "Almost everything you hear on the album is a first take. This makes it almost like a 'live album' where a band sets up in a studio and just rolls tape. There are songs on here I don't even remember recording."

As you may recall, quite the shit storm went down last year with Logos when it was prematurely leaked by an opportunistic Deerhunter fan/hater. At the time, Cox said he had no plans to finish the record, but obviously he changed his tune. However, many of the tracks on both leaked versions of the record don't make an appearance here on the final product, and we're guessing those that do have gone through their fair share of changes.
