Deerhunter Announce New Halcyon Digest Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 9, 2010

So much for that supposed hiatus. Less than a year ago, singer-guitarist Bradford Cox announced that Deerhunter would be going on a break, promising that it would last "a long time." But by the time spring rolled around, the experimental rockers were already back on the road, opening up for Spoon. Now, Deerhunter have announced that they will be releasing a new album, Halcyon Digest, on September 28.

Deerhunter will be promoting the release with a street-team-style campaign, asking fans to print out copies of a handmade flyer (seen above) and paste them around town. A press release suggests fans place the poster "in their favorite independent record store, co-op, bedroom, library, etc."

If you paste the flyer somewhere public and then take a photo of the results, send your picture to flyers@halcyondigest.com and you'll receive a link to the album's first single, as well as a non-LP track. Be sure to include the city where the photo was taken.

You can download a hi-res version of the flyer here. There's no word on what the album is going to sound like, but if you head to HalcyonDigest.com, you can hear a brief instrumental snippet.

Halcyon Digest will be released via 4AD.
