Deerhoof Announce 'Breakup Song'

Deerhoof Announce 'Breakup Song'
Deerhoof had a mighty busy 2011, which saw them releasing their Deerhoof vs. Evil LP, a live set and a single, but after one hot minute out of the spotlight, the eclectic indie outfit are back with news of yet another full-length, Breakup Song.

The CD and LP arrives in North American retailers September 4 via Polyvinyl, and will be issued a day earlier the in UK and Europe though ATP. A limited-edition tape release will also be delivered through Joyful Noise Recordings in a run of 250 copies.

Speaking of the album, dummer Greg Saunier said in a statement, "We've just finished a sensational record of Cuban-flavored party-noise-energy music. We called it Breakup Song, but don't expect a bunch of Grammy-baiting sob stories, OK? In Deerhoof's thesaurus, freedom's just another word for feeling good again and raising hell and getting away with it. Stick with us and the bad guys with guns will never catch up."

You can check out snippets from the 11-song set now by using the "Jingletron" app on the group's website. After dragging a token and dropping it into a digital coin slot, jingle-sized sound clips play while a giddy line drawing of a dude, as delivered by bassist/singer Satomi Matsuzaki, dances across the screen.

On top of the album news, Deerhoof have also announced some fall dates, which includes a stop at Pop Montreal. You can check out the details down below.
