Deerhoof

"Mario's Flaming Whiskers III" (video)

Pop eccentrics Deerhoof have been delivering a steady flow of audio and video since dropping their celebratory new LP, Breakup Song, earlier this year. Now, they've unveiled a new video for album track "Mario's Flaming Whiskers III."

The clip finds a sinister-looking ringmaster in varying states of frustration as his "circus" — people in animal masks, dolphin hand puppets, and a troupe of young, disaffected clowns — prepare backstage for the big show. The visuals are a good match for the topsy-turvy, funhouse tune, laden with squealing synths, distortion, and djembe hits.

A cassette single for the track, backed with a remix by Silver Apples and a live cover of the Velvet Underground's "All Tomorrow's Parties" will drop in the UK on December 3 via ATP Recordings, but North Americans will have to settle for the digital release.
