Considering the number of bodies involved in the disco octopus known as Hercules and Love Affair, it was only a matter of time before the projects of other members began popping up. Aside from Antony Hegarty, of course, the group's diva extraordinaire Nomi Ruiz, bassist Andrew Raposo and keyboardist Morgan Wiley have formed a new outfit called Deep Red (I can only assume they were inspired by the Dario Argento film of the same name). Though they will make their very first live appearance this coming Thursday in NYC, Deep Red are currently working on their album but have shared a couple of songs for curious ears to hear.

"Fun Girl" is a frolicsome yet somewhat darker breed of dance music, using palm-muted guitars and high-pitched, robotic synth squeals alongside Nomi's sexy calls. "Good To Go" is more in touch with Hercules' disco fixation, though with bare bones minimalism that keeps to a snail's rhythm. The elastic bass lines are lean yet influential and the kit work is busy but very laidback, leaving everything up to the neon siren in Nomi to steal the show.
