Death Valley Driver

'Carnivore's Oath' (EP stream)

BY Matthew RitchiePublished Sep 30, 2014

Charlottetown, PEI metal enthusiasts Death Valley Driver haven't slowed down since releasing their ECMA Award-winning sophomore LP, Graveyard Dead, back in June 2013. With two LPs and an EP now under their belts, as well as a string of live appearances alongside the likes of Metallica, Coheed and Cambria, and Protest the Hero, the band sound more road-ready than ever before on their upcoming four-track mini-release, Carnivore's Oath.

The recording won't hit shelves until October 7. In the meantime, feast on the upcoming Diminished Fifth Records release in full on Exclaim.ca.

The band's new EP was produced by PEI guitar player Colin Buchanan (of Paper Lions fame) and mastered by Juno nominee Dan Weston (City & Colour, Classified). A press release describes the new recording as showcasing the band's continued "growth with a larger focus on melody and songwriting, while retaining their heavy roots," and we couldn't agree more.

From the high-octane hard rock of album opener "Coven of Ash" to the rampant riffs of the EP's titular track, Carnivore's Oath is a heady mix of reborn rock'n'roll and hell bound heavy metal.

Hear for yourself by listening to the four-track recording at the bottom of the page, which you can find underneath the band's current crop of dates.
