A Death in the Family This Microscopic War

Someone has definitely been listening to their Leatherface records. Busting out the whiskey-soaked vocals, aggressive instrumentation, and powerful drumming of the infamous UK punkers, these Australian gentlemen and woman up the melodies a little more with The Microscopic War, creating a sound not unlike Hot Water Music. The band really strike out on their own with tracks like the stellar "Falling Like the Plague,” where guitarist/vocalist Sarah moves the music in a truly unique direction with her softer, but equally impressive vocals. Likely, it is her vocals that will ultimately separate the band from the multitude of Leatherface sound-alikes, and while this record is hit or miss at times, the strongest moments shine with an impressively original sound that should bring the band success in our hemisphere sometime soon.
