Following their recent collaboration with Chance the Rapper on The Big Day and their own 2018 album Thank You for Today, Death Cab for Cutie are taking a break from releases with "day" in the title. Instead, their next outing is an EP called Blue.

The five-song release will arrive on September 6 via Atlantic. Before it arrives in full, you can hear the first single "Kids in '99" below.

The song was written in memory of three children that died in Bellingham in 1999 as a result of the Olympic Pipeline explosion.

"The Olympic Pipeline explosion in 1999 was a tragedy that really affected me while we were living in Bellingham," Death Cab's Benjamin Gibbard said in a press release. "After all these years I felt it was worthy of its own folk song."
