Today (August 27) marks the release of former Galaxie 500 frontman Dean Wareham's new "Love Is Colder Than Death" single, and the title track is streaming now for all to hear.

The A-side delivers a sad-sack country shuffle and deep sighing vocals, and the press release has Wareham describing the track as being about "epic journeys and happy returns." It's likewise named after director Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1969 film of the same name. "It's not a great film, but is a memorable title," Wareham added.

While "Love Is Colder Than Death" was just released on 7-inch vinyl and as a digital download via Double Feature/Sonic Cathedral, along with the "She Went Walking in the Rain" (written by Cheval Sombre and Sonic Boom), the track will also appear on Wareham's upcoming Emancipated Hearts mini-album. Though details are slim on the release, it will be issued October 15 in North America and November 4 in the UK.

For now, stream "Love Is Colder Than Death" below via Pitchfork.
