Deadmau5 vs. Disney, Flight of the Conchords' Return and Dan Mangan + Blacksmith's "Vessel" in Our News Roundup

After another action-packed week of news gathering, we're back to sift through the chaos to present our news roundup. If you're looking to get back on top of things, here are just some of the top stories to grace our pages this week.

First off, we have the escalating battle between Canadian EDM champ deadmau5 and corporate entertainment giant Disney. It all began when the DJ attempted to trademark his mouse head logo in the U.S. — a move Disney formally took issue with this week due to the logo's similarities to another famed rodent named Mickey. However, deadmau5 is not taking the challenge lying down, and quickly fired back at Disney with a cease and desist over using some of his work apparently without permission, leaving a trail of Twitter hate in the process. In other words, deadmau5 is very much lawyering up.

However, it wasn't all David vs. Goliath this week. We also had news of Flight of the Conchords returning to HBO, Modest Mouse finally reissuing their early albums of vinyl, famed vegan Ian MacKaye getting his own beefy beef burger, and Metallica setting a new Guinness World Record.

Then there was Cee Lo effectively destroying his career via some extremely questionable rape comments, Steve Albini breaking down the new Shellac record track-by-track, Dan Mangan giving us the first taste of his work with Blacksmith and the newly reunited Smalls adding a big run of Western Canadian tour dates.
