"The Veldt" (ft. Chris James) (video)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 25, 2012

Canadian electronic star deadmau5 recently caused a bit of furor by admitting on his blog that he and other EDM practitioners don't do much other than "hit play" during live shows. Now, the producer also known as Joel Zimmerman is turning the attention back onto his music by releasing a video for his song "The Veldt," featuring Chris James.

The tune, which was inspired by the Ray Bradbury story of the same name, has a bubblegummy electro pulse slightly reminiscent of "Digital Love" by Daft Punk, meaning that it will translate at home as well as in dance clubs. The short story also inspired the song's video treatment, an animated clip with an African theme that resembles a slightly sinister take on The Lion King.

The Veldt EP is out now through Ultra Music.
