Dead Messenger

"Cold Summer" (video)

Montreal-based, psych-tinged power-pop unit Dead Messenger are gearing up to release their next record The Owl in Daylight this fall, but before the new album arrives, Exclaim! has got the video premiere for their seasonally appropriate single "Cold Summer."

Following up 2011's Recharger, the new material will hear the band exploring the lush realms of psychedelia while retaining their signature pop sensibility. Written entirely in studio, The Owl in Daylight hears the band maturing as songwriters, but also expanding their collaborative horizons by welcoming appearances from the likes of Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Timothy Herzog and the In & Outs' David Groover.

"Cold Summer" offers up a sampling of the new and improved sound, and the single was recorded at the Converse Rubber Tracks pop up studio at Toronto's Noble Street with Alexandre Bonenfant (METZ, July Talk). The video was filmed in Montreal's Saint-Henri neighbourhood at a laundromat, and it sees the band getting their gig on as spin cycles whir in the background and socks inevitably disappear in the dryer.

And despite the song's title, the band want to assure everyone that: "We truly hope everyone has an awesome warm sunny summer!"
