DCF

"Down We Go" (prod. by Nathaniel Motte)

Toronto-based crooner DCF (real name David Charles Fischer) loves pop music. He started gaining attention online for his re-interpretations of radio hits, then released an EP of original material called Pop Songs last year. Now he's back with another pop-infused gem, and Exclaim.ca has got the exclusive premiere.

The new single is a fresh take on Lights' 2014 hit "Up We Go," dialling up the darkness and slowing it down into an ominous, melancholic, electro-inspired number. It was produced by 3OH!3's Nathaniel Motte, whose previous production and songwriting credits include work with Maroon 5 and Lil Jon.

The wistfulness of "Down We Go" showcases Fischer's "neo-pop" sound, which a press release describes as having "found a home somewhere between the sensibilities of Frank Ocean and the springy croon of Justin Timberlake, with a layer of undeniable Drake-confidence."

You'll be able to hear DCF deliver live on February 12 at the Rivoli in Toronto, sharing the bill with Mormor and Bedroomer DJs (featuring Eytan Tobin and Lum).

For now, though, prepare to swoon over the slick sounds of DCF's "Down We Go." Give it a listen below.
