Day of Contempt

The Will to Live

BY Jasamine White-GluzPublished Sep 1, 2005

Australian melodic hardcore band Day of Contempt may be wooing Good Charlotte fans as the warm up act for the MTV favourites on their current tour, but it’s going to take a lot more than that to solidify them as a force in the hardcore scene. Their latest effort is The Will to Live, is somewhat of a softcore "Hatebreed meets Taking Back Sunday” potpourri of current screamo sounds. The throaty vocals sound forced throughout the record and the songwriting is painfully formulaic. Although there are only six songs on this EP, after a few listens I was convinced there was only one.
