David Lynch and Chrysta Bell Join Forces for New EP

The week is still young, but David Lynch is already dominating the news cycle. Following the arrival of some proper details behind the Death Waltz Recording Company's upcoming Twin Peaks soundtrack reissue, it's now been revealed that Lynch wrote and produced a new EP from longtime collaborator Chrysta Bell. Her Somewhere in the Nowhere EP is due October 7.

Bell's new song cycle is the latest effort to be produced alongside Lynch. He had previously sat behind the boards for her 2011 debut, This Train, while Bell had also contributed music to Lynch's 2007 feature, Inland Empire. Recently, that soundtrack work was explored in a book titled Beyond the Beyond: Music from the Films of David Lynch.

"The first time I saw her perform, I thought she was like an alien. The most beautiful alien ever," Lynch said of Bell in a press release, adding that the musician "is not only a killer performer, [but] she also has a great intuitive ability to catch a mood and find a melody that's really spectacular."

To tease the EP, a video has been uploaded behind its "Beat the Beat." You can check out the moody, air-whooshing electro-noir piece down below.

The EP isn't the only new music on the way from Bell. She's also in the midst of working on a proper follow-up to This Train. The as-yet-untitled sophomore LP is being produced by longtime PJ Harvey collaborator John Parish and is expected to feature appearances from Sunn O)))'s Stephen O'Malley, Portishead's Adrian Utley and Yes member Geoff Downes.

In related news, Bell will also be appearing in the Twin Peaks reboot.
