David Lynch Beefs Up and Releases Benefit Comp Featuring Tom Waits, Peter Gabriel, Iggy Pop

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 12, 2011

Back in March, we reported that director David Lynch was readying a benefit compilation on behalf of the David Lynch Foundation to raise funds for disadvantaged youths, the homeless and war veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. While at the time it was hinted that the set, which included cuts from Peter Gabriel and Tom Waits, would cap out around 17 songs, the digital compilation was released today (July 12) with its tracklisting practically doubled.

Titled Download for Good: Music That Changes the World, the digital release features remixes, covers, B-sides and live tracks from a number of artists, from the previously discussed participants Iggy Pop, synthy sweethearts Au Revoir Simone and eclectic world rockers Ozomatli to the metal-saluting flamenco sensations Rodrigo y Gabriela. A number of collaborations are featured as well, including the out-there pairing of Police guitarist Andy Summers and opera singer Geeta Novotny for a version of "Ave Maria." You can check out the massive, 33-song tracklisting below.

"The artists who have shared their music are spreading happiness," Lynch said in a statement. "With their music alone they're supporting programs that take away suffering and bring bliss to many people."

Download for Good: Music That Changes The World is out now exclusively as a digital download on iTunes.
