Once again, we're hearing new rumbling about that long-rumoured tribute to David Bowie. We first got wind of the star-studded comp back in January, and now we know that it's been given the title Repetition - A Tribute to David Bowie, and is slated for release this fall.
As Consequence of Sound points out, the tribute disc is due in stores on September 6 via Manimal Vinyl. It will be available as a double LP, double CD or download set with bonus tracks.
And while a September release date may seem a long ways off, it may be worth the wait. The compilation is said to include contributions from artists as diverse as Duran Duran, Devendra Banhart's Megapuss, Warpaint, Xiu Xiu, Carla Bruni, Vivian Girls, Rainbow Arabia, Swahili Blonde with John Frusciante, and Lewis & Clarke, among others.
Initial reports that MGMT were on the compilation were denied by the band in an email to Exclaim!. Nonetheless, they still appear on a tracklisting recently posted on Duran Duran's website.
All proceeds from the compilation will be donated to War Child UK. The set can be pre-ordered here.
