David Bowie to Release Live Album Featuring Dave Grohl, Billy Corgan, Lou Reed
We're not entirely sure how David Bowie celebrates his birthdays these days, but back in the '90s, he did it in style, inviting some of his closest, and consequently most famous, friends to rock out onstage for the occasion. If you need proof, you'll want to checkout Birthday Celebration — Live in NYC 1997, an upcoming live set that chronicles the events that took place on the Diamond Dog's golden anniversary.

Set to be given an unofficial bootleg release on April 26, the 14-year-old concert, which took place at Madison Square Garden, has a number of popular pals stopping by to give their best wishes. Longtime cohort Lou Reed pops by to guest on "Queen Bitch," while also performing a couple of Velvet Underground cuts. The Pixies' Frank Black cuts in on "Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)," while Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters support Bowie on "Hallo Spaceboy." Other notable guests include Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan, the Cure's Robert Smith and all of Sonic Youth.

If you missed it when it happened back in the '90s, and let's face it, most of us did, you can now bring the experience into the comfort of your living room and croon a version of "Happy Birthday" to Bowie to your heart's content, which, by the way, isn't a totally creepy way to spend your evening.
