Sorry, their relationship is purely "motorcycles and waffles"

Rumours recently erupted about Dave Grohl recording with Josh Homme, with many fans thinking the Foo Fighters leader could be featured on the upcoming QOTSA album. Now Grohl has effectively shot down all those hopes and dreams.

After ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons initially sparked the rumours of a collaboration in June, Grohl has clarified he definitely isn't on some new record by Queens of the Stone Age.

"You know, I never fucking mentioned that I'm on the new Queens record," Grohl told NME. "I'm not on the new Queens record."

He then elaborated on his relationship with Homme, saying the two are just buds.

"You know what Josh and I have been doing together? Riding motorcycles and eating waffles. That's it. Let me tell you, it's a fun morning. We've done it more than a few times and it's pretty fucking great."

That said, Grohl did say that he does "wish" he was on some new Queens album, but again said the pair's relationship is only about "motorcycles and waffles."

The rumours all got going when Gibbons said the following to eonmusic:

Just one month ago I was making a record with Queens of the Stone Age. Dave Grohl was also taking part and he decided to have a big barbecue. So there was this interesting gathering.

We had gone to the desert to work on just a couple of tracks. Josh came out of the studio, and he had this box, and it was making some strange noise, and I said, 'Hey, what is that,' and he goes, '"I don't know, I just found it"; I said; "Don't touch a thing; were going to use it for the song!" So that's how it started.

Queens of the Stone Age's last album arrived with Villains in 2017. Some, however, believed Grohl would be joining Homme on an upcoming Desert Sessions release, though by the sounds of things, it's all just "motorcycles and waffles."
