Dave Grohl Producing New Album from Zac Brown Band

Never one to take things slow, super-musician Dave Grohl has completed all sorts of projects while the Foo Fighters have been on a short break, including his work on the Sound City documentary, among myriad production projects. Now, however, he's taken the most surprising left turn yet, trying his hand at country music.

After collaborating with a batch of musicians as diverse as RDGLDGRN, Joan Jett, Ghost B.C. and Jack Black, Grohl has revealed plans to work with rockin' country outfit the Zac Brown Band.

The Georgia-based group have enlisted Grohl to produce their sixth studio album, which is due sometime next year. They also convinced Grohl to man the skins for them when they performed "Day for the Dead" at the Country Music Awards earlier this week. Watch footage of that performance below.

This isn't the first out-of-left-field collaboration from the Zac Brown Band this year, however. In September, they joined forces with UK boy band One Direction to perform a one-off show as Zac Brown Direction.
