As previously reported, the soundtrack to Dave Grohl's Sound City documentary will be released next Tuesday (March 12), and the effort is being teased with an in-studio vid for "Mantra" featuring the beloved musician, Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and Trent Reznor.
While including a seriously slow-burning build-up of Grohl's measured drum hits, funky bass plunks from Homme and moody Wurlitzer runs from Reznor, the track eventually gets bumping enough for Grohl to headbang his way through a walloping back end. You can see the performance down below.
The Sound City soundtrack arrives next week through Grohl's own Roswell Records and also features guest appearances from Paul McCartney, Nirvana's Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear, Tim Commerford (Rage Against the Machine), Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine), Rick Springfield and Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), among others.
