Over eight years removed from delivering After the Ending, Dashboard Confessional has lifted the curtain on a brand new full-length set to arrive next year. On top of that, the project will be heading out on a lengthy Canadian tour next year.
Titled Crooked Shadows, Chris Carrabba and co. will deliver the new disc February 9 through Dine Alone/Fueled By Ramen. The album runs nine tracks in length and was produced by Carrabba and Jonathan Clark, with co-producer Colin Brittain.
Crooked Shadows is said to be "a deeply cathartic body of work that traverses the complications and vulnerabilities of relationships while scrutinizing the possibility of self-improvement." The album's first single, "We Fight," has arrived alongside the announcement and can be heard below.
"When I wrote 'We Fight' I thought it was just about the music scene that I came up in — a place where people who'd never quite fit in anywhere felt they actually belonged," Carrabba explained in a statement. "When we began playing the song live on our summer tour, I realized that 'We Fight' held a much broader meaning. It's a song for people who, in spite of their differences, can find common ground in their convictions and foster those into something bigger than themselves. That, to me is something worth fighting for."
He continued: "Every album is personal, but as this album was coming together I realized, especially as the world's political climate was rapidly changing, that 'personal' did not necessarily mean 'mine.' Suddenly, 'Me' became 'We' and that realization was empowering, comforting and terrifying all at once."
As for that Canadian tour, Dashboard Confessional has just rolled out a long string of 2018 tour dates. This includes shows in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver and many more cities. You can find the complete list of dates below the new album's tracklist.
