The Daredevil Christopher Wright Sign to File Under: Music for 'The Nature of Things'

To date, Vancouver label File Under: Music has built up a strong roster of mostly Canadian artists, releasing albums from the likes of Dan Mangan, Kathryn Calder and Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. Now, the label has added a new U.S. act to the mix: Eau Claire, WI-based folk trio the Daredevil Christopher Wright.

The band -- which, incidentally, doesn't feature anyone named Christopher Wright -- will release their sophomore LP through the label. Entitled The Nature of Things, it will be out on June 26. This is the follow-up to 2009's In Deference to a Broken Back.

According to a press release, these 12 tracks show off the band members' "classical voice training and pleasing, sometimes unexpected, harmonies." They were recorded by Daytrotter's founding engineer Patrick Stolley.

The band's singer/guitarist Jon Sunde said in a statement, "We made an intentional effort to focus and tighten the writing. To try to confine the arrangements to elements that the three of us could perform."

The lyrics apparently touch on everything from divorce to meth addition to death. You can probably guess which of those subjects inspired the lead single, "Divorce," which is streaming at the bottom of the page.

The Nature of Things:

1. I & Thou
2. Divorce
3. Blood Brother
4. We Fold Inside of Us
5. Church
6. Andrew the Wanderer
7. Ames, IA
8. San Francisco Bay
9. Pale Horse, Pale Rider
10. The Birds of the Air and the Flowers of the Field
11. The Animal of Choice
