The Darcys Cover Steely Dan on 'Aja'

Back in the fall, the Darcys released the first of three planned LPs through Arts & Crafts. Now, they've unveiled album number two, and we're surprised to report that it's a Steely Dan cover album. Their full-length cover of Aja will be out on January 24.

This reworking of Steely Dan's 1977 album will be released as a free digital LP via the band's website. It will also be sold as a limited edition 180-gram coloured LP through Arts & Crafts' store.

The album was apparently recorded while the band struggled to complete their sophomore LP, and they turned their attention to reworking Aja "as a dark, but bold declaration of self-sufficiency."

"We did it because we could," the Darcys' Wes Marskell explained in a statement. "And because we thought we couldn't. It became as much an art project as an album."
