Published May 29, 2015Third Man Records have unveiled a new video project called The Blue Room Spotlight Series. Much like the cobalt-coloured covers of the label's 7-inch series, the videos are shot in the Nashville-based business' "blue room." Christening the visual project is Danny Kroha, who stopped by to deliver a performance of Clarence Ashley's bluesy "Walking Boss."
The video finds Kroha seated and strumming a baritone dulcimer, and using a wonderfully weathered voice to tell us about the titular "Walking Boss." There's a bit of multiplicity in play, though, as the clip also blends together images the solo artist singing and hammering a bass drum.
A studio version of Kroha's cover of "Walking Boss" is available on his Angels Watching over Me LP, while you can watch the debut Blue Room Spotlight Series performance down below.
