We're officially deep into year-end times in the music world, where most people split hairs over the rankings of the same few albums they've deemed the best of the year. There are a few frontrunners that continue to pop up on everyone's lists this year, but rapper Danny Brown has picked a clear favourite.
On Twitter, the outspoken Detroit performer revealed his top pick of the year, which might surprise you if you forgot that he's a big-time indie head. Brown's choice? Mount Eerie's haunting, heart-breaking eighth album A Crow Looked at Me:
The band's Phil Elverum was quick to show his appreciation to Brown, offering his gratitude in a reply:
Here's hoping the Danny Brown shoutout helps Elverum move some units of the release. Last week, A Crow Looked at Me was named the third best album of the year by none other than the New York Times. The designation didn't exactly do much for sales, however:
For what it's worth, the album was also listed as Exclaim!'s second-best folk and country release of 2017.
