Danielson Issues New Single, Covers ABBA

He tided fans over with some new goodies last year, but it's felt like an eternity since we've heard any new material from outsider indie rock guru Danielson. Thankfully, that's about to change with the release of a brand new Danielson seven-inch.

The record is called Moment Soakers, and was released in conjunction with a new non-profit group called the Weathervane Music Organization. As the press release explains, "Weathervane represents a profound commitment to the idea that at all stages of the process community must be part and parcel of what it is to make and share music, from recording to presentation, from funding and resource allocation to promotion and arts advocacy."

Apparently, the record's A-side, "Moment Soakers," is a direct response to the hurried, bustling existence that counters this community-oriented mindset. "What if it were possible to hover above the chaos of jostle and activity and doing, to float above it all, as a hot-air balloon floats past busy highways and bustling cities, and breathe in cool air and good company while the pressures and to-do lists worry about themselves?" the press release says.

Along with "Moment Soakers," the record's B-side features a cover of ABBA's "Eagle."

The seven-inch will be released on November 12 through Danielson's label, Sounds Familyre, which promises more new material as well, saying, "A lot of exciting things coming down the pike, but until then, soak in the moment..."
