D'Angelo Announces Toronto Date

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 18, 2013

Reclusive soul singer D'Angelo has slowly reintroduced himself back to the live circuit over the last year, and now the Voodoo singer is ready to head back to Canada, via the announcement of a gig in Toronto.

Earlier this morning (February 18), Hogtown promoters Bringing the Voices tweeted that D'Angelo will hit Sound Academy on April 20. The company also posted on Facebook that the show will feature opening sets from Divine Brown, Trixx and Jay Martin.

The announcement was backed up by a Facebook post from local promoter Ian Andre Espinet, whose eponymous promotion company will be co-presenting the affair. The show poster on his page explains that the singer will perform selections from his "unlimited catalogue."

UPDATE: As reported, the show has now been postponed indefinitely.

It's unclear at present time if this is a one-off show in Canada or if there are more national dates on the way.

While D'Angelo's apparently Mark Ronson-produced LP has still yet to get an official street date, that vinyl repress of Voodoo arrived last December.
