Dan Mangan to Perform with Symphony Nova Scotia for Halifax Pop Explosion

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 23, 2012

As always, the annual Halifax Pop Explosion will be returning to the capital of Nova Scotia this fall. While the lineup has yet to be announced, the festival has confirmed one high-profile act that will be playing its 2012 edition: Dan Mangan.

Excitingly, Mangan will be participating in the annual team-up with Symphony Nova Scotia. Past artists to work with the orchestra at Halifax Pop Explosion include Joel Plaskett and Basia Bulat.

The concert will take place on October 19. A listing on the Symphony Nova Scotia website reads, "Experience Dan's rich, textured music combined live with Symphony Nova Scotia in his first-ever orchestral appearance."

Of course, it's hard to think of a more fitting candidate for an orchestral show than Dan Mangan. After all, this will give the Vancouver troubadour a chance to perform songs like "Basket" and "About as Helpful as You Can Be Without Being Any Help at All" as they were meant to be heard.
