Published Jul 16, 2014Montreal-raised but Berlin-based electronic pop player Dan Bodan is gearing up for the fall release of his debut LP for DFA, Soft, but he's showering us with synthy sounds this summer in the form of the record's sensual first single, "Soft as Rain."
Described in a press release as a song about "sex, cleansing, and finding new love," the track features sudsy keyboard work and other assorted production touches from Great Skin as Bodan recalls a romantic encounter still fresh in his memory. Edging itself towards the modern R&B sounds of Rhye or Autre ne Veut, you can hear the intimate number down below.
"I write about the things I know, but it should be interesting for other people," Bodan said in a statement of his songbook. "So I want it to be like a really great roman-a-clef, or reading your older sisters diary."
Soft touches down some time in October.
