Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Detail 'The Speed of Things'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 31, 2013

Pun-loving dance-pop duo Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. are revving themselves up to race back into our hearts this fall, with news that their sophomore LP The Speed of Things drops October 8 on Warner Bros. Records.

Though the 13-song LP is the proper follow up to 2011's It's A Corporate World, two of its tracks ("You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)" and "Hiding") were test-driven earlier this year on the act's spring-launched Patterns EP. Judging by a press release, it appears as if the new record deals with the complexities of life in the internet age.

"It's a record that means a great deal to us, as it focuses on the size and speed of the world today," the band said in a statement. "Everything is moving faster and faster as we are all much more connected by the global central nervous system that is the internet. Often it feels like when one realizes what they wish to do, it's impossible to know where to begin due to the scale of everything. We're a generation of false starts."

Back in the physical world, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. have a handful of summer festival dates to get through before they team up with Atlas Genius for a fall tour. The trip hits up Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on October 4, and an as-yet unspecified venue in Vancouver on November 10. You can see the rest of the show details down below.
