Daft Punk's Tron: Legacy Soundtrack Gets November Release Date

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jul 6, 2010

The rumblings that Daft Punk would be contributing the score for Disney's upcoming Tron sequel, Tron: Legacy, have had us on the edge of our seats for over a year. Besides the fact that new Daft Punk material is always a cause for celebration, this is arguably one of the greatest sci-fi pairings in history. With the movie due on December 17, the only sample of their score has been in the film's trailer. Now, however, we've learned that the soundtrack finally has a release date.

The Stranger points to an Amazon listing for Daft Punk's Tron: Legacy soundtrack, and while there are very few details, the album was given a November 23 release date. The release will be available through Walt Disney Records, and Amazon is expected to start taking pre-orders soon.

According to Variety, the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con will offer a series of Comic-TRON events this October, including "a panel discussion, more footage, a performance by Daft Punk and the first look at merchandise." A blogger at /Film has denied this, however, saying that his "music industry sources have told me not to expect a live musical performance from Daft Punk."

Regardless, mark November 23 on that calender and start getting excited, guys.

UPDATE: Some well-connected sources have graced us with their knowledge of Amazon release dates and pointed out that this date might not be set in stone.
