Published Jun 28, 2012For those who've been waiting for French Touch duo Daft Punk to deliver that much-anticipated new full-length, we've got some good news and some bad news. Getting the bad out of the way, there's still no word on when the rumoured Giorgio Moroder-, Paul Williams- and Nile Rodgers-assisted LP will hit retailers. The silver lining, however, is that the electronic act are seemingly putting a new tune on a compilation CD with the next issue of French magazine Tsugi.
As Some Kind of Awesome points out, the publication's next issue is set to include a comp featuring a Daft Punk track called "Renoma Street." The number is reportedly named after a Parisian café.
Earlier today (June 28), Tsugi editor Patrice Bardot tweeted, "Sachez le : ce hors série 4 de @tsugimag est en bonne voie, le cd compil' de l'été tue, il sera bien en kiosques le 21/7," which, roughly translated, explains that the compilation will arrive July 21.
Responding to FACT's line of questioning regarding the Daft Punk track, the magazine simply responded, "the answer will be on the next issue." You can also see a bit of photographic evidence above.
Hopefully, all will be revealed by Tsugi and the band in a few weeks time, but perhaps it's time fans start up a subscription.
Daft Punk's last release was 2010's Tron: Legacy soundtrack.
UPDATE: According to Pitchfork, Daft Punk are not releasing this new track via Tsugi. Make of all this what you will.
