Despite the shortened workweek in Canada, there was more than enough to keep our news scribes busy. So if you fear something may have passed you by, come play catch-up with our news roundup.
First off, it was a big week for Canadian tour announcements. Metallica announced a pair of Canuck dates and will play both Edmonton and Vancouver, where they will shoot the show for their upcoming 3D film. And apparently fans were pretty stoked about the whole thing, as the band quickly added additional dates in both cities. Also, Roger Waters revealed he's going to construct the biggest wall yet, and he's doing that at the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City. On top of that, Peter Gabriel will be bringing his So anniversary tour to the Great White North as well.
Also this week, we got a double dose of Red Hot Chili Peppers news. Departed MVP John Frusciante revealed he's finally returning with a new release, while some crafty fan did some serious detective work and found the location of the bridge from RHCP's much-loved "Under the Bridge."
Then we had Beck joining forces with Jack White, ex-Handsome Fur Dan Boeckner starting a new group with Spoon's Britt Daniel, and Flaming Lips taking on Jay-Z's Guinness World Record for "Most live concerts in 24 hours in multiple cities."
Meanwhile, Brasstronaut's Edo Van Breeman shared one wild story with us concerning his Swiss prison sentence, while the good folks at Vancouver's Music Waste announced their 2012 lineup.
And last but certainly not least, we discovered that robotic duo Daft Punk are working with none other than Giorgio Moroder, the disco pioneer who's worked with everyone from Donna Summer to Sparks to David Bowie, Japan and Queen. Consider us more than a little excited.
