Daedelus Lines Up North American Tour in Support of Bespoke

BY Josiah HughesPublished Feb 23, 2011

It's hard to know when L.A.'s Daedelus (née Alfred Darlington) finds time to sleep or iron his outfits, as the experimental beat dandy appears to be on a constant cycle of touring and recording. This year looks no different, as Daedelus has announced a new album for Ninja Tune and a North American tour to coincide.

The new record is called Bespoke and features an array of vocal collaborators, including Busdriver, Baths, Bilal, Milosh, Inara George, Young Dad and Kelela Mizanekristos. The album also includes keyboards from Sara's Om'Mas Keith and drums from Darlingston's Uncle Pete, known to everyone else as Pete Curry of the band Los Straitjackets.

According to a press release, the album's title is defined as "a term employed to mean an item custom-made to measure." In the context of this release, the word "bespoke" represents "Daedelus's way of stating that it's possible to grow and flourish as a musician without settling for the drab factory pre-sets of genre."

Ninja Tune will release Bespoke on April 11, but selections of each track are available here. Lead single "Tailor-Made" can also be streamed below.

In addition to the new release, Daedelus will embark on a sprawling North American tour that includes stops in Montreal and Toronto this April. All dates are available below.
