Autonomic - FabricLive 50

BY Sarah FergusonPublished Mar 22, 2010

The meeting of dBridge and Instra:mental is in good taste for lovers of bass and its variations of sound. D-Bridge (one quarter of live jungle group Bad Company, circa the late '90s) and Instra:mental (the acclaimed duo of Al Bleek and Kid Drama) come together here, offering sensory delectable bass tunes at lower BPMs. This Fabric record is done in collaboration with the popular Autonomic podcast, which is put together by these musicians, representing evolution through collaboration. Intelligent arrangements harmonize the sounds of drum & bass, dub-step, IDM and downtempo. Multiple tracks are represented from Exit Records and Nonplus+ (plus one from Darkestral and one from Genotype), making for a nearly flawless selection. "Seems Like" by Riya (Exit) kicks off the record with touching vocals and deep, spacey bass sounds. "Fire Call" by Skream shows intuitive rhythmic dub dexterity. This is a record of solid links between the DJs, the tracks and a genuine understanding of the music.
