Cymbals Eat Guitars Sign to Barsuk for Sophomore Album

It's been a while since Staten Island indie rockers Cymbals Eat Guitars released their 2009 debut, Why There Are Mountains. The album garnered much acclaim for its blend of epic rock jams and understated, hushed ballads, helping build up the outfit's fan base. The disc clearly made quite an impression on the owners of Pacific Northwest imprint Barsuk Records (Ra Ra Riot, Menomena), which explains why the band have signed with the label for their next release.

A press release explains that the group will be heading into the studio later this month with producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile) to record their sophomore set. A release date has not yet been set, but the statement says Cymbals Eat Guitars will be hitting the road this fall.

In the meantime, you can check out Cymbals Eat Guitars' cover of Guided By Voices' "Gleemer" below, courtesy of Sirius. The tune will be featured on the upcoming GBV tribute album, Sing for Your Meat, which comes out on Record Store Day (April 16).
