Published Oct 15, 2014Throughout Nebraskan emo survivors Cursive's near 20-year career, 2003's The Ugly Organ has stood out as one of the group's most complex and beloved albums. That's likely why outfit's fourth full-length is about to get a deluxe edition reissue through longtime label Saddle Creek.
A fully remastered, expanded version of the album lands on CD, double LP and digitally November 24. As you can see up above, the Mach 2.0 edition of The Ugly Organ also features modified cover art, swapping out the original's vibrant green backdrop in favour of a dark and ominous black canvas lurking behind the jagged, mangled organ keys.
The first disc of material preserves The Ugly Organ's original order, with a press release describing the cycle as featuring a "gloomy inward focus" due to it being crafted during the "darkest days of the Bush Era."
The second platter is loaded with a variety of extras, from the four songs they submitted to the 8 Teeth to Eat You split with Eastern Youth, to two B-sides from their "The Recluse" single, to "Sinner's Serenade," a song that had originally appeared on their label's Saddle Creek 50 compilation. You'll find all of the tracklisting details down below.
Pre-orders for the set are being taken now, with MP3 files set to be delivered on November 10. You'll find more info here.
While Cursive has the upcoming deluxe release on the horizon, Tim Kasher and co. have not issued a new LP since 2012's I Am Gemini.
UPDATE: Cursive have also announced a U.S. tour for 2015, and while there are no dates set for Canada, you can see the schedule below.
