Ontario alt-country favourites Cuff the Duke will return with their fifth studio album Morning Comes on October 4, courtesy of Paper Bag Records. But if you're not one who likes to wait, you can stream the entire record now on Exclaim.ca.
Billed as the first part of a two-part album, the record deals with the themes of loss and loneliness. In a statement, frontman Wayne Petti described the sombre tone of Morning Comes, stating, "This album is the low and the next album will be the high."
The LP was produced by Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor, who also filled the role of producer on Cuff the Duke's last record, 2009's Way Down here. The new release features Cuff the Duke's familiar blend of indie rock and alt-country sounds, but also delves into new territory with the eight-minute long epic "Bound to Your Own Vices." Album opener "Time Is Right" promises to be a stomp-along crowd pleaser at upcoming live shows, while slower burners like "Brightest Part of the Sun" and "Letting Go" reflect the more melancholic vibe of this record.
