Criteria

The sophomore disc from Criteria features songs that bridge complexity with tunefulness, recalling both Jawbox’s angular rock and Weezer’s refined pop. Commonly burdened with the emo label, the group have a strong enough grasp of musicianship to elevate their music above the usual insipid clatter of many other groups within the genre. This latest work from ex-Cursive member Stephen Pedersen conveys solidly crafted songs that capably twist time signatures and melodies.
