Published Dec 09, 2010Romy Madley Croft is a master at understated singing. Her vocal hooks with the XX float delicately amongst the sparseness of their arrangements. Thankfully, as lush and busy as Brooklyn, NY duo CREEP's debut "Days" single may be -- cluttering the mix with busy snare jumps, syrupy new wave guitars and sinister synth blasts -- Croft's minimalist musings don't get lost in the witch house haze.
Juxtaposing its busy beat with such lax vocals, "Days" plays half like a darkened dance club banger, but could easily turn your apartment into the chill-out room. Just make sure you buy yourself a couple of black lights.
