Published Nov 27, 2015Hailing from Ontario's Niagara region and cutting her teeth in folksy duo Howler, Brittany Brooks stepped out solo under the moniker Creature Speak and recently released her debut full-length Shadow Songs.
The album serves as a tribute to Brooks' father, who recently passed away, sharing stories of loss and loneliness through song. "Oh Susana" is soft, sentimental and warm-sounding, and has now been paired with some accompanying visuals.
The clip brings together more than 4,000 drawings, imposed atop a shot of Brooks singing into the camera. The style was inspired by the early animation of the 1940s — a time that saw artists experimenting by drawing directly on film leads to achieve an abstract effect. It translates well to the brand new clip, adding a quirky and colourful touch to the otherwise simple video.
