Hailing from Ontario's Niagara region and cutting her teeth in folksy duo Howler, Brittany Brooks stepped out solo under the moniker Creature Speak and recently released her debut full-length Shadow Songs.
The album serves as a tribute to Brooks' father, who recently passed away, sharing stories of loss and loneliness through song. "Oh Susana" is soft, sentimental and warm-sounding, and has now been paired with some accompanying visuals.
The clip brings together more than 4,000 drawings, imposed atop a shot of Brooks singing into the camera. The style was inspired by the early animation of the 1940s — a time that saw artists experimenting by drawing directly on film leads to achieve an abstract effect. It translates well to the brand new clip, adding a quirky and colourful touch to the otherwise simple video.
