Published May 10, 2012Not to be confused with Halifax's Cousins or PEI's Rose Cousins, Niagara Falls, ON-based four-piece Cousin will set them selves apart from the pack when they release their debut album. The self-titled collection will arrive on May 18.
According to a press release, the album's nine songs were laid down last year on "two of the hottest summer days." They were recorded live off-the-floor and subsequently overdubbed, and the results are described as "tube-driven rock."
In case you're not familiar with the band, it features singer-guitarist Giulio Rocco, his bass-playing twin Sandro, singer-guitarist Taylor Page and drummer Adam Slinn. They are said to posses a "lo-fi, slacker rock sound that can tug at anyone's '90s-rock roots."
Certainly, there's no mistaking the Pavement influence in the album tracks "Mountain Slip" and "Jawbreakah," which are available for free below.
Cousin will launch their album with a Toronto show on May 18 at Sneaky Dee's. Brian Borcherdt from Holy Fuck will DJ after the set.
