Published Nov 19, 2011With another news week in the can, we've sifted through the headlines for another weekend edition of Exclaim!'s news roundup. This week, we have everything from reignited rivalries, to good-hearted charity endeavours, to long-delayed albums getting some concrete release plans. Here's just a sampling of what graced our news pages this week.
Sorry, folks, but living, breathing train wreck Courtney Love stole the show once again this week, thanks to an onstage freak-out in Brazil that found her losing it on fans when one held up a T-shirt featuring Kurt Cobain. If that wasn't bad enough, she stormed off stage, and when she was on it, she was topless for part of the set. Making matters all that much worse, Love revived her old rivalry with Dave Grohl, insulting his Foo Fighters and their fans during and after the show. Yes, it looks as if we have another addition for our upcoming Beefs 2011 year-end list.
In more positive news, big-hearted hardcore heroes Fucked Up revealed they will be playing their entire David Comes to Life in Toronto for charity. Will Damian rock a big ol' Santa hat? We can only hope.
In other Canadian news, the folks behind the Canrock tome Have Not Been the Same assembled a stellar cast of musicians like Kevin Drew, Hidden Cameras and Great Lake Swimmers for a covers comp, Sloan gave an old bootleg a vinyl release, and Kathleen Edwards and Hannah Georgas announced plans for a joint tour.
Then we had Lou Reed getting his own line of headphones, New Order announcing a Waiting for the Sirens' Call outtakes release, Tyler, the Creator naming his new album Wolf and, last but not least, Kid Cudi finally giving us some real, firm details on his long-in-the-works WZRD project. Seriously, it's about freakin' time Cudi.
