Plagued by the drama that's followed her for years, the latest news to report from the train wreck known as Courtney Love is that she has lost custody of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. Following a court ruling, the 17-year-old, whose father is the late Kurt Cobain, was assigned legal guardians to take Love's place.

As TMZ reports, a hearing took place on Friday (December 11), when a judge assigned the guardianship of Frances Bean to Wendy O'Connor and Kimberly Dawn Cobain, Kurt's mother and sister, respectively. Love was not present in the courtroom, according to the report.

While details are a little sketchy, TMZ reports "guardianship was established after a fairly long period of unstable conduct by Courtney Love."

Love has yet to comment on the situation.
